EDUCATIONAL PARAPROFESSIONAL

JOB DESCRIPTION

Assist in individual pupil instruction. Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other (non) instructional units. May escort child to and from various rooms and job sites. Toileting may be required. Regular attendance is required for this position. Will involve work with special education students for Special Education Paras and regular education students for Regular Education Paras under the direction of teachers. These positions will require PMT training to be provided by Special Services Department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree. Two years of college credit OR hold an associate's (or higher) degree; OR successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics (Parapro Assessment).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

As per negotiated agreement

WORK YEAR

2016-2017 school year. Works 6.25 hours/day.
