The Industrial Engineer (IE) will execute all aspects of the development, implementation and improvement of integrated manufacturing systems and operations for the UTAS Engine & Environmental Control Systems manufacturing sites in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Close coordination with the leadership / management team is a must to ensure alignment with our customers' needs and to drive high performance. This opportunity offers a diverse experience: the ability to positively impact manufacturing processes, quality, productivity and technology through all phases of a product life cycle, from inception to aftermarket support and across the entire suite of products managed. The IE will be accountable for execution within the established metrics for productivity, process waste elimination, cost reduction, material flow, machine and energy utilization and technology. The ideal candidate will be creative, energetic, and adaptable with a positive attitude to work through challenges, address productivity improvements and drive a lean culture and advanced manufacturing processes.


* Conduct Time studies and standards assessments per PMP6012 (UTAS Standard)

* Provide data analysis to support business metrics/product and production cost baselines and decision making reviews

* Perform metrics reporting and tracking

* Coordinate business objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize process reliability, reduce variation, improve productivity and minimize cost

* Create, develop and update process routings in Solumina / SAP. Communicate standards with leadership / management and team associates

* Support capacity analysis. Provide output containing the analysis for the specified assignment with all assumptions documented

* Perform variation analysis. Provide output containing the variation analysis for the specified assignment with all assumptions documented

* Support/lead lean transformation e.g. (process charts, process maps, 3P's, etc.) including ACE/Kaizen/VSM events and continuous improvement meetings

* Confer with suppliers, team members, functional groups and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.

* Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using ACE/Lean manufacturing/Continuous Improvement tools.

* Create/Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.

* Lead and facilitate.

* Support transitions from limited production to serial production processes.

* Design and execute creative solutions for manufacturing standard work and cell design and integrated material logistics.

* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications 2-5 years of related experience in manufacturing and engineering of mechanical products strongly preferred. The successful candidate possesses strong communication and teaming skills, analytical thinking skills, results oriented and customer focus. The candidate will also need to be adaptable, a forward thinker and problem solver, and has the desire and ability to work in a team environment but be accountable for deliverables. Must be able to work with Microsoft Office (Advanced level of MS Excel preferred). Decided plus attributes include: Project management skills, ability to interpret Engineering Drawings, ability to develop and check Assembly Instructions, routings and time standards, familiarity with SAP, Visio, Solumina and CAD/CAM software.

The position will require approximately 10% travel.
