Southington Public Library is seeking to develop a substitute custodian list for daytime hours. Applicants will be working within a public facility and need to be flexible enough to work with minimal notice. This is a temporary position with no guarantee of hours.

Essential Job Functions:

Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:

* Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of flooring and stairs.

* Service, clean, and supply restrooms.

* Clean sinks, countertops, microwave, and refrigerator in break room.

* Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.

* Dusting and cleaning tables, desks, computers, books shelves and furniture

* Cleaning windowsills and windows.

* Perform minor repairs (attach and remove shelving, unclog toilets, replace light bulbs, etc.)

* Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized and safe manner.

* Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition.

* Proper labeling, dilution and use of all chemicals.

* Notify the Library Director concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems

* Make minor adjustments to the HV/AC system.

* Set up, arrange, and remove tables, chairs and other equipment to prepare facilities for events and programs.

* Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.

* Remove snow under 2" from sidewalks using snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals.

* Other routine maintenance duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

* The work requires routine walking, standing, bending and moving heavy boxes, furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.

* Individuals need to be able to lift up to and including 50 pounds.

* Individuals may need to push carts weighing in excess of 100 pounds.
