Public Relations Communications Specialist

Job Description

LIMRA and LOMA are the trusted sources for industry knowledge. More than 1200 financial services companies, the media and other public stakeholders rely on our research and development programs to understand the market trends, mitigate business challenges and capitalize on new opportunities. LL Global's external communications team is tasked with effectively communicating our research and services to these stakeholders.

We are looking for a creative, energetic and ambitious individual with a background in communications or journalism who wants to learn more about the financial services industry and support LIMRA's and LOMA's external communications efforts to build brand recognition and reputation through media relations and executive communications channels.

Support all aspects of external communications, enhancing the content, the process and the venues for those communications

* Work with the Public Relations Director to ensure that all external messaging - whether through executive communications or media relations - is consistent and supports the organizations' strategic goals.

* Support efforts to creatively engage media to promote LIMRA's research and people through various channels, including website, social media, press releases, etc.

* Support Public Relations Director to develop PowerPoint presentations to support president's 40+ annual external speaking engagements.

* Update and manage media contact lists.

* Write and/or edit speeches, letters, white papers and other communications for executive leadership team.

* Keep abreast of industry issues to be able to influence communications with current content.

* Research, identify and obtain key presentation opportunities for the members of the executive leadership team, both within and external to the financial services industry.

* Support efforts to engage member companies and other industry associations to provide color, context and awareness of industry issues to guide executive communications.

* Be familiar with LIMRA's goals, activities, products, and procedures so as to perform communications activities most effectively.

Experience We Like:

* One to three years of experience working in public relations or a closely related field

* Excellent writing skills

* Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills

* Desire to develop media relations and executive communications skills

* A strong understanding of the social media and messaging landscape

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
