* Drive Fire apparatus including pumpers, rescue/hazmat vehicles or service to transport material, equipment, and personnel to fire, accident, disaster or other scenes requiring assistance. Setup equipment, distribute protective gear and establish required operating parameters

* Carry out inspection and testing of a variety of facilities and equipment, tools and fire protection devices, chemicals and support devices. Test and repair firefighting equipment and perform condition status checks recommending overhaul and refurbishing actions to restore deficient operating parameters.

* Respond to emergencies such as fire, medical, hazmat and disaster and deploy equipment, assist in organizing and directing others and carry out rescue using a variety of protective gear and specialized equipment. Serve as required to assist during helipad landings and emergencies.

* Perform routine servicing and maintenance throughout the facilities for assigned area, equipment and vehicles following specified procedures and check list, clean facilities, vehicles and equipment and paint, observation, training and related activities.

* Carry out other tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description to develop individuals' skills and support objectives of the unit.

* May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, certifications and operator permits for specialized assignment and to conform with governmental and company regulations.


Preferred Qualifications: Firefighter I certified, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certified, Hazardous Material Technician certified. Valid State of Connecticut "Q" endorsement or a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Minimum Qualifications: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)certified, Firefighter I certified, ability to possess Hazardous Material Technician certification. Valid State of Connecticut "Q" endorsement or a valid Commercial Driver's license (CDL)".
