We're have an exciting opportunity for a Law Clerk to join our team as a 12 month project hire.

The Law Clerk position carries out a range of duties under the supervision of one or more attorneys in ESPN's Legal department. Required to take direction and instructions from attorneys and paralegals within the Legal Department and translate instructions into action, raising any important questions and issues along the way. Required to confidently engage with business leads to help transfer the desired requirements into contract language. This role will be focused mainly on contract drafting in one or more of the programming, production, digital and technology areas, and will require the ability to spot legal issues and analyze existing complex contracts. The Law Clerk should operate independently when assigned a task and seek approval where appropriate on work-product.

* Strong academic credentials.

* Ability to work a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week and work out of the Bristol, CT office.

* Expert-level strength in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint.

* Strong legal research abilities within Westlaw.

* A self-starter who is dedicated to practicing law after graduating from law school and passing the Bar.

* A commitment to confidentiality, ethical behavior, and workplace decorum.

CURRENT law student (1L or 2L) with a Bachelor's degree; must attend school and live a commutable distance from the Bristol, CT campus. This role has a 20 hour/per week max while class is in session; and is scheduled for 40 hours/per week when class is not in session.

* Receive tasks from attorneys and paralegals within the entire Legal Department who will monitor work product.

* Draft provisions and entire contracts from both standard forms and from scratch for production, programming, affiliation, talent,, ESPN The Magazine, ESPN's international divisions, and other ESPN properties.

* Manage contract flow including execution and distribution both internally and externally.

* Respond to requests for contracts and contract status, contract interpretation, and dispute matters.

* Enter contract provisions into various databases.

* Conduct legal research.

* Filter current events in relevant areas for attorneys.

* Conduct analysis of contracts to determine ESPN's rights and obligations.

* Conduct a range of administrative support activities for the Legal Department, for both attorneys and paralegals, in the day-to-day handling of contracts, litigation, and other department matters.

* Perform own clerical functions.
