The UCHC seeks to fill a part-time student laborer position. This is a temporary part-time position. Primary responsibilities are to supervise and instruct children aged six (6) weeks through preschool with a program designed to stimulate cognitive, emotional, physical and social growth in a safe, caring environment. This position will work in the Creative Child Care Center under the general supervision of the Head Childcare Teacher, Center Director or an employee of higher grade.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED -

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

Must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in one of the following degree programs - Associate, Bachelor or Master's.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to verify current student status in formal accredited program upon hire. Acceptable documentation include either a letter from academic advisor on letterhead; or a course schedule listing current term of enrollment, name of educational institute and student's name.

Incumbents in this class must complete and maintain First Aid certifications and medication training and be responsible for obtaining state licensing required continuing education units. May be required to complete and maintain CPR certification. In compliance with NAEYC guidelines, must be at least eighteen (18) years old.

As a condition of employment and at the incumbent's expense, a Criminal Fingerprint Background check, both State and Federal, as well as a check of the State Child Abuse Registry must be processed and cleared by the Department of Public Health.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Enrollment in a degree program in a child-related field.

SCHEDULE: various part-time hours, Monday-Friday, days. 30 - 60 minute unpaid meal break (depending on work schedule).

MINIMUM FULL-TIME SALARY EQUIVALENT: $10/hour; no benefits.
