The Legal Assistant position will hande a variety of administrative assignments including the processing of all fees and expenses associated with arbitration and stipulated awards. The position will also provide support to the attorneys and paralegals handling discovery, subpoena requests, garnishment requests and the confirmations and domestications of arbitration awards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Administrative tasks including the processing of legal fees. Answer garnishments and subpoenas. Assist with discovery and the confirmation/domestication of arbitration awards. Draft legal documents and/or letters. Work with various electronic databases including West Law's Serengeti Database, Lexis Nexis, Pacer as well as internal databases. Respond to and track customer comments. Continual updating of the department's Settlement Log. Additional tasks as assigned or as the position evolves further. Requirements The successful candidate will have: High school diploma/GED required. Additional education a plus. Prior law firm or in-house working experience preferred. Experience necessary for effective job performance: The ideal candidate is an energetic, self-starter who has the ability to multi-task and meet stringent deadlines. Attention to detail and prioritizing the accuracy of one's work product is essential. Ability to problem solve and think outside of the box is also required. Must be willing to take instruction from others and be accountable for his/her work. Note: We sincerely appreciate your interest!
