* Valid State of Connecticut TESOL/Bilingual teaching certificate

* Five years of teaching experience

Reports to:

Director of World Language/ELL and/or School Principal

Job Goal:

To provide instruction that results in improved academic performance for students receiving ESOL services.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

* Attends regularly and is punctual

* Collaborates effectively with EL tutors, teachers, school and district-based administrators, and parents

* Travels between schools as necessary

* Administers all annual LAS Links Tests

* Coordinates purchase of instructional supplies, equipment and materials with Director of World Language/ELL

* Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of district curriculum and instructional strategies

* Keeps current with the developments within the department and plans professional development for teachers, tutors and administrators

* Evaluates the achievement and placement of students in assigned curricular area(s) in consultation with the Director of World Language/ELL

* Collaborates with the Director of World Language/ELL in preparing and administering the department's budget

* Develops lesson plans and delivers instruction utilizing a broad range of appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies.

* Provides individualized and/or small group instruction to students as necessary.

* Provides coaching and modeling for tutors and teachers as necessary

* Develops a Language Development Plan (LDP) for all level 1 & 2 students

* Develops EL tutor schedules

* Supervises and observes EL tutors

* Administers and scores Pre LAS, LAS Links, LAS Placement & LAS Benchmarks

* Supports SBAC testing accommodations for students receiving ESOL services

* Attends professional development as required by the Director of World Language/ELL or the building principal

* Facilitates ongoing home-school communication

* Attends school and district-based meetings as necessary (i.e. Data Teams, PPTs, SRBI meetings)

* Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of World Language/ELL and or the building principal
