This position requires an individual who performs skilled custom woodworking. He/she is responsible for producing, designing and crafting products such as doors, cabinets, molding and other high grade wood custom pieces by using specialized tools.

Work assignments are usually in the form of rough sketches or oral instructions and some will be accompanied by blueprints or drawings. The employee is frequently expected to develop exact work designs from detailed instructions and specifications.

Interpret blueprints and shop drawings to determine measurements and specifications required to construct or repair cabinets, shelves, doors, windows, fixtures, trims and other wooden articles using woodworking machines and hand tools.

+ Layout machine or dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock and match material for color, grain, or texture; prepare cut lists.

+ Set up and operate such woodworking machines as power saws, jointer, mortise, molder and shaper to cut and shape lumber from stock; trim component parts of joints to proper fit using hand tools such as planes, chisels or wood files.

+ Sand and scrap surfaces and joints of articles in preparation for finishing; install hardware such as hinges, catches, drawer pulls and knobs.

+ Check completed work for adherence to designated dimensions, specifications, and quality.

+ Perform preventative maintenance on shop machinery and tools.

+ Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

+ Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

+ Must be able to read, interpret and produce from blueprints & architectural shop drawings

+ Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

+ Ability to exercise independent judgment when undertaking assignments.

+ Must follow all safety instructions, use good judgment and ware safety glasses, hearing protection guards and safety shields at all times.

+ Must be able to lift 50 to 80 pound boards and sheets of plywood.

+ Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

+ Minimum 5 years of fine custom cabinetry work experience.

+ High School Diploma.

+ Vocational & Technical School (industry specific).
