Job Description:

The Maintenance Mechanic performs a proportionate share of the necessary building maintenance, grounds upkeep, and other services and repairs required to maintain the Maryknoll Sisters' Center as a safe and attractive complex. While all Mechanics perform varied repairs throughout the complex, we are looking for someone with a specialty in plumbing. Services are provided alone or working with Physical Plant associates, and other related Departments. The Maintenance Mechanic II position is an Essential position which requires those in this position to be at work during inclement weather and for other emergency situations as requested by the Manager or Supervisor. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED A. Prior experience and proficiency in building trades. B. A thorough understanding of the Maryknoll Sisters Center facility and its system a working knowledge of the proper operation and location of the facility's components. C. Ability to accept and perform varied building maintenance and repair tasks proficiently. D. Ability to tolerate heat, cold, noises and odors E. Takes initiative in observing what needs to be done and sees work through to completion. F. Maintains a tolerant attitude in the face of many and varied demands. G. Must possess a valid New York State Drivers' License. H. Ability to drive Plant vehicles, including the BOBCAT and SNOWPLOW. I. Willingness to pursue further training to develop trade skills. 2. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Prior work and proficiency in plumbing. 3. MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED High School Diploma or equivalent.
