Job Description:

Sensory Scientist The Scientist role supports business needs as outlined by their direct supervisor. She/he develops a research investigation plan and conducts research related to projects and project teams. She/he conducts In-depth analyses and integration of data derived from single or multiple tests to present a comprehensive picture and recommended actions. She/he assists in the development and implementation of new methods to address specific product, process, and consumer issues. Accountabilities The accountability of this position is to design, execute and interpret product and consumer research investigation in support of business needs and objectives. This colleague is accountable for: •Design and execution of research investigations consistent with sound, robust scientific practices that meet international standards and are defensible in front of the scientific community. •Demonstrating solid, scientific-based understanding of the principles of consumer research. •Participates in cross functional teams by providing technical understanding of core area of expertise. •Responsible for designing objective driven studies meeting the needs of the project team. •Presentation of all information in a manner that is coherent and accurately reflects the results obtained in the research investigation. •Knowledge of statistical analysis procedures for the investigation of product/process/consumer data and the ability to apply that knowledge. •In-depth functional understanding of technical tools that support testing (automated data collection systems, statistical software, Microsoft Office, etc.). •Strong initiative, the ability to think and work independently, problem-solve, work in teams and multitask; a solution orientated professional. •Continued training in the field of work. •Conducting all activities consistent with company and departmental policies and procedures. Specific Accountabilities •The location of work is primarily RD&E at the Institute for Evaluation Sciences facilities located in Milford, CT. The location may vary at times to include other facilities and/or contracted facilities as necessary. •This position actively designs, executes, analyses and reports the results of sensory and consumer investigations on Edgewell Personal Care products. •Key customers include members of Product Development, RD&E, Program Management, Marketing, and Legal Staff •No financial responsibility is associated with this position •Additional duties may also be performed as assigned. Required Skills and Experience •Formal education and experience in Science based field: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering with 2+ years' work experience, or An advanced degree in Science or Engineering (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) Demonstrated skills to include: Basic understanding of product/process/consumer based research as a scientific discipline. Ability to frame internal customer needs into actionable studies. Ability to coordinate projects including the design, execution, analysis and reporting. Basic proficiency in applying methodologies including quantitative and qualitative testing, statistics, and design of experiments to answer objectives. Ability to function as a collaborating team member in a business environment to support area of discipline on cross-functional teams. Ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work in teams. Ability to execute multiple tasks required to meet project objectives. Communicates effectively intra and interdepartmentally to meet project objectives. Good documentation practices of any records and data. Willingness to stretch into areas that may require training and education. Preferred Skills and Experience •Experience in a corporate environment •Experience in a CPG industry is a benefit •Experience in the field(s) of sensory, consumer, and/or clinical science •Experience with Good Clinical Practices Working Relationships & Environment •Reports to Staff Senior Analyst, Research. •Key relationships internally may include: •Professional and technical staff in the Department. •Product Development and Innovation Teams. •All RD&E, Marketing, Program Management, Legal Staff •Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Key External relationships will include: a.Consultants b.Vendors Work Environment •10% travel may be required. •Typical physical requirements of an office environment are necessary. •The work location will be in an office environment; a secondary location is a product testing facility, which is visited by invited members of the general public. •Work hours are typically 7.5 hrs. per day with core hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm on Monday to Friday. Availability may be necessary outside of core work hours. •Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
