Applicants need to be previously trained by GE in the Generator Specialist OEM training program.

The Generator Specialist Technical Field Advisor (TFA) provides on-site technical direction to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants for their Turbine Generator Systems. Responsible for reviewing plant engineering documents and P&ID's, troubleshooting

of plant systems and equipment, planning, organizing, integrating and direction of resources such as labor, tools and materials as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements.

The primary responsibility of the Generator Specialist, is to safely accomplish the maintenance and repair of the heavy duty generators used in power generation applications. TFAs work closely with Craft Labor Supervisors, EHS personnel, and the Operations

Department to achieve these goals.


Perform inspection and testing of the generator field and stator utilizing the latest technology. (MAGIC Jr. & Sr. inspection, Digital/Analog EL-CID, Flush and Bake skid (FAB), Quick skid, Capacitance Mapping, Tracer Gas, Vacuum Decay, Pressure Decay, 60 Hertz

AC HIPOT test set, Wedge Tapping, Computer Based Reporting tool), Epoxy Injection, UT Flow, Hazmat training and other topics as business needs arise)

+ Direct and perform repair or inspection procedures utilizing the latest electronic communication, references and documentation technologies. (Need to possess good computer skills)

+ Recognize, Predict and document potential generator failures.

+ Present to the customer accurate generator quality issues as presented and selected by Generator Product Service and regional generator specialists.

+ Familiarity with Power Circuit Breakers, Protective Relay Systems, AC and DC Motors / Generators, Programmable Logic Controllers

+ Working knowledge of basic electrical circuits and electrical troubleshooting

+ Working knowledge of prints/print reading, such as manufacturing drawings, P&IDs and schematic drawingsParticipate as a Service Team member dedicated to Safety metrics.

+ Pre-outage planning; possibly recommending and administering policies and procedures

+ Lead execution of projects, including: generator field and stator rewinds, general generator repairs, and inspections

+ Execute project management and technical leader duties. Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues.

+ Perform work at GE and customer locations throughout the United States (primary) with possible work locations globally. Weekend work, and shift work will be necessary.

+ Able to travel extensively and work significant over-time.

+ Complete service reports and other administrative requirements timely.

+ Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality.

+ Support the business growth initiatives.

+ Job assignments can be either Domestic or International.Extension travel, weekend work, and shift work may be necessary. Requirements: technical competence, 'hands-on' experience with industrial turbine/generators, results oriented, leadership ability, willingness to travel, and flexibility.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:This position requires you to have previous GE OEM training by GE in the Turbine Generator systems. Prospective candidate should have experience with configuring and troubleshooting turbine generators.

+ Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor Degree in Engineering and 4 years of experience, or 6 years of experience without formal degree, in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning preferred. Demonstrated progressive, responsibleexperience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required.PHYSICAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

+ Must be able and willing to work long hours and schedules that are not uniform on a day-to-day basis

+ Must be able and willing to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time

+ Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

+ Must be able to climb ladders and steps

+ Extensive travel to and from projects for various field assignments is required. International travel may be required
