Position Title: Senior Accountant

Reports to Position: CFO and/or Director of Accounting

Company Overview:
Our client was formed in 2013 and organized to acquire interests in insurance companies and other assets within the financial service sector. Our client' s seasoned management team has over 25 years of insurance and investment experience. The founders worked together at Swiss Reinsurance Company from 1996-2010 where they managed billions of dollars of insurance related funding and structured product exposure.

Our client currently owns four insurance companies.

Due to growth, our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join the team.

Pleasantville, NY (Westchester Office) or Manhattan, NY (Wall Street Office)


This position is responsible for the preparation of statutory financial statements, related supporting schedules, and other accounting functions as necessary.

Essential Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

1. Prepare and/or verify monthly financial reports as required.
2. Compile data for reinsurance reports, and oversee reporting to reinsurers.
3. Assist in preparation of bank reconciliations.
4. Prepare quarterly regulatory filings including statutory statements.
5. Manage preparation of the annual statutory statements.
6. Prepare and process payment of premium taxes, municipal taxes and assessments.
7. Prepare responses to state regulatory inquiries and requests for financial information as necessary.
8. Maintain and prepare monthly general ledger journal vouchers as required.
9. Enter annual statement into SunGard System.
10. Coordinate with and assist state and outside auditors, and regulatory agencies, in any examinations and audits of the Company' s financial statements and periodic statutory filings.
11. Assist in design, installation, training and operation of Company accounting and reporting software, as required.
12. Handle confidential information and abide by HIPAA privacy laws.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Advanced computer knowledge including, but not limited to, MS office products.
2. Strong math skills.
3. Strong analytical skills and the ability to pay attention to details.
4. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all information received.
5. Ability to work independently to carry out assignments.

Education, Training and Experience:
1. Bachelor' s degree in accounting.
2. Three to five years experience in insurance accounting and reporting, or general accounting experience. CPA, CIA or CMA certification is a plus.
