Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle Summary: ColumbiaDoctors is one of the largest multispecialty practices in the Northeast and is affiliated with world-renowned Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. ColumbiaDoctors is currently looking for an Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle to work in its centralbusiness office located in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Reporting to the Director of Revenue Cycle Operations and the Chief Revenue Cycle Officer, the Assistant Director of Revenue Cycle will be responsible for providing leadership and management to all clinical departments, including the Dental clinics, on all aspects of revenue cycle. Responsibilities will include monitoring of performance against benchmarks, supervision of staff, and management of external billing vendors. Functions: Manage revenue cycle unit in a central business office.Supervise staff, as assigned.Assign revenue cycle account(s) for one or more clinical departments.Oversee revenue cycle work outsourced to external vendor(s).Liaise with key stakeholders in department, central business office, and vendors for management of revenue cycle performance.Develop and establish standard operating procedures and policies.Triage and resolve issues, track and trend performance issues, and provide value by proving revenue cycle solutions and enhancements.Monitor deviations, take proactive measures, and escalate issues to management and vendor when necessary.Direct, troubleshoot, and manage revenue cycle issues, initiatives, and improvements.Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.Design queries and manipulate large volumes of data to create reporting to identify and interpret revenue trends and to manage overall revenue cycle performance.Assist in the development of training programs for departments to increase knowledge of relationship between charge behavior, billing flow, and reimbursement.Promote best practice by evaluating current workflows, measuring performance against industry benchmarks, recommending and overseeing implementation of new workflow/policies, and monitoring performance post-implementation.Prepare appropriate reports and analytics for department leadership.Demonstrate potential leadership qualities through team motivation, training, coaching, and mentoring of other associates.Represent the FPO/CDM on committees, task forces, and work groups. Negotiate workable compromise solutions to complex problems between the FPO/CDM and other departments, outside vendors, etc.Keep apprised of rules and regulations (Article 28) affecting reimbursement. Stay current through appropriate journals and personal contacts of such developments in the industry as may increase the effectiveness of operations.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director and senior management.Monitor contractual arrangements to ensure adherence with terms of agreements. Qualifications: Minimum: BA/BS in Business Administration, Information Systems, or equivalent in education and experience.5 years plus of related experience in a physician billing or third-party payer environment. Additional: Demonstrated skills in revenue cycle management, problem assessment, and resolution and collaborative problem solving in complex and interdisciplinary settings.Experience in data extractions and manipulation of data.Knowledge of electronic Dental billing systems for front-end and back-end functions and the willingness to learn new systems, applications, and programs.Proficiency in Dental insurance billing, collections, and eligibility as it pertains to managed care, government, and self-pay reimbursement concepts and overall operational impact.Ability to work independently and follow through and handle multiple tasks/special projects simultaneously.Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. This position requires the ability to interact positively and constructively with employees, professional staff, community representatives, and carriers.Ability to educate and train at all levels of professional staff.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Must be flexible to work on variety of tasks and projects.
