Job Description:

Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Community Platform Services, the Service Asset & Configuration Manager is responsible for defining and managing the operational activities of the process. The Service Asset & Configuration Manager is involved in ensuring integration with the other Service Management processes such as Change and Release Management. The Configuration Manager is also involved in developing the CMDB data model, core policies, maintenance processes and procedures, key performance indicators and producing ongoing management reports. Principal Responsibilities: 1. Defines the structure of the configuration management system, including CI types, naming conventions, attributes and relationships. 2. Creates, implements, and communicates configuration management plans, processes, and standards. 3. Facilitates the negotiation of the scope of the configuration management process in collaboration with CMDB governing structures, Process Owners, and IT business stakeholders. 4. Works with other Process Owners to ensure an integrated approach to the design, implementation, and coordination of interfaces between configuration management and other service management processes. (Change, Release, Incident, and Knowledge). 5. Identifies which CIs need to be managed and controlled from the basis of Asset, Configuration Management, and Inventory. Proposes and agrees to the CI types and level of detail at which CIs are to be identified. 6. Evaluates systems that discover and interface with configuration management database. 7. Plans and executes population of the configuration management database (manual and automated); manages CMDB, central libraries, tools, common codes and data; ensures regular housekeeping of the CMDB. 8. Ensures changes to the configuration management processes are properly approved and communicated. 9. Works collaboratively across ITS to implement CMDB assets and leads project implementation. 10. Produces and distributes management reports for configuration management. 11. Defines certification and audit processes and engages the CI class owners on regular certification efforts. 12. On-boards new CI Owners and manages training materials and quick guides. 13. Continually reviews the Configuration Management process for efficiency and effectiveness Required Skills: 1. Understanding of ITIL Service management processes 2. Demonstrated leadership, teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting 3. Experience in documenting Configuration management plans, processes, and procedures 4. In-depth knowledge of Configuration management best practices, framework and methodology 5. Specialized knowledge of defining, documenting and implementing Asset Management and Configuration Management processes for both hardware and software CIs 6. Familiarity with one or more CMDB solutions. (ServiceNow, BMC, etc.) is desired 7. Must have hands-on Configuration Management and CMDB experience 8. Strong verbal, written and process documentation skills Preferred Education and Experience: • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and six years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience • 5 years+ experience in Service Asset and Configuration Management in a challenging environment • Experience and strong subject matter expertise with IT Service Management processes including Configuration Management, Change Management, Incident/Problem Management, and Release Management • Database design and architecture • ServiceNow administrative and development experience/certification is a plus • Enterprise ITSM software experience is preferred (ServiceNow, BMC, etc.) • ITIL certification and understanding, preferably technical ITIL track Preferred Licenses or Certifications: Service Now System Administration Certification, ITIL Foundations Certification
