UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual (UHC E&I) is seeking an Accounting Manager to join the segment's Controllership team. The Accounting Manager will be an integral part of the accounting team and will engage directly with the broader UHC E&I finance teams while supporting the accounting and reporting for the commercial risk adjustment program (RAF) and controls around the related data storage system (3RDD). A successful Accounting Manager will demonstrate ability to support accounting and reporting for the risk adjustment program through forecast cycles and month end processes, understand applicable regulations, drive improvements, support field leadership and other customers through reporting and thoughtful financial analysis. Candidate must demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to work with large amounts of data while working collaboratively in active partnership with FP&A and Health Care Economics teams. Primary Responsibilities:

* Serve as the lead for risk adjustment (one of the Health Care Reform's 3Rs) accounting and reporting including but not limited to journal entries and account reconciliations
* Provide operational and technical accounting expertise to ensure compliance with GAAP, Company policies, rules, regulation and laws; work to implement new regulations and laws within our internal tools and control structure
* Working collaboratively with the FP&A team and the Health Care Economics team, develop, implement and maintain processes and procedures for accurate and timely analysis of financial data including external reports, ensuring best practices
* Develop and maintain internal control structure and procedures for financial accounting and reporting of RAF
* Manage the audit process and work with outside auditors regarding accounting and reporting issues related to RAF
* Summarize RAF impacts on the monthly, quarterly or annual reports to senior management, auditors and regulators
* Work collaboratively within the functional team to support other Reform-related accounting initiatives impacted by RAF
* Serve as a liaison to 3RDD and support various data processes including but not limited to risk adjustment and reinsurance discrepancy research, new release testing, issue research and resolution, and various data activities related to other data storage systems supporting the Reform
* Support various special projects as needed

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
* 5+ years demonstrated progression in financial reporting and analysis
* Intermediate level of working knowledge of GAAP; ability to effectively use accounting knowledge to collaborate with varying levels of employees and senior management to drive sound business decisions
* Expert level of proficiency with Excel, Word, and other financial reporting tool
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Advanced analytical and information gathering skills; ability to evaluate and prioritize extensive detailed data
* Prior experience successfully managing multiple requests, assessing priorities and achieving solutions under deadlines
* Proven success with process automation and process improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

* CPA/CMA or other equivalent licensure or certification
* Public accounting or auditing or consulting experience
* Previous supervisory experience
* Prior experience with SAS or system coding
