Job Description:

JOB TITLE: Production Manager DEPARTMENT: Operations FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: VP of Operational Excellence and Quality Assurance Work Week: Mon - Fri or as needed based on production requirements. POSITION PURPOSE: Reporting to the VP of Operational Excellence this position is responsible for managing the compounding and filling departments. These responsibilities include analyzing and managing resources to best meet cost, quality and scheduling objectives. Acts as the driving force identifying opportunities and initiating new processes/practices designed to enhance operations, reduce costs and support the attainment of established goals. Develops implements and maintains metrics designed to continuously monitor all aspects of the production process. Demonstrates an on-going commitment to the maintenance of a safe working environment and quality. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Compounding and Assembly Management Supervises and directs the Production Fill and Compounding Departments. Reviews short and long-term manpower requirements and ensures that staffing is adequate at all times. Conducts daily huddles, weekly training and safety meetings for all crewmembers. Provides performance feedback and coaching for all crewmembers. Prepares production and employee schedules for all compounding and production fill employees. ; ensuring that the production is scheduled to maximize efficiencies and orders are fulfilled based on customer requirements. Develops and implements new ways to improve the efficiency of production lines. This includes implementing training programs, and working with employees to resolve problems that hinder efficiency and cause delays in production while accomplishing operational objectives. Identifies diagnoses and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems. Supervises, trains, assesses and motivates a team of workers. Manages Key Performance Indicators and develops plans for continuous improvement. Analyzes production data Develops and implements corrective action and preventative action plans to eliminate any operational issues. GMPs/Safety Ensures proper levels of GMPs, Health and Safety and Housekeeping rules are maintained and regulatory requirements are met at all times. Maintains Occupational Safety and Health Administration norms for the safety for all production personnel. Ensures appropriate equipment operation, maintenance and repair. Ensures all production areas are maintained in a well-organized, clean and tidy manner at all times. Quality Compliance Ensures all products are produced according to the manufacturing instructions provided and all documentation is completed in an accurate and thorough manner. Completes all paperwork as required (i.e. daily activity report, accident reports, cleaning logs etc.) and ensures all required records and log books are maintained in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains the quality standards for all products manufactured. Works closely with Quality and R&D on new products and processes to ensure optimal implementation. SUPERVISION RECEIVED / ADMINISTERED: VP of Operational Excellence and Quality Assurance Qualifications - Experience, Skills & Education: B.S. degree in Engineering or Business Management. 8 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in the cosmetic industry. Experience with using an ERP system is a plus. Experience and commitment to continuous improvement programs, with experience in lean six sigma principles and programs a plus. Experience with FDA or similar regulatory requirements a plus. Strong abilities in analysis and creative problem solving. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to utilize computer applications and other tools to accomplish functions. Good leadership and managerial skills Commitment to excellence Physical Requirements: Excellent eye and hand coordination. Ability to lift and handle weights generally not exceeding 50lbs. Ability to use computer keyboard for extended periods of time. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Occupational Chemical Exposure Risks: Risk of exposure to chemicals.
