Part Time Evening Computer Literacy Instructor

The SUNY North Bronx Career Counseling and Outreach Center, located in Bronx, New York, seeks an evening part time "Computer Literacy Instructor" to work 16.0 hours per week from Monday to Thursday (5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.) as part of a professional team of faculty and staff that provides quality classroom instruction to non-traditional, adult learners in a positive educational environment. Classroom size will consist of 15-24 students.

General Description: The Computer Literacy program instructor's primary responsibilities will be to provide training in Microsoft Office 2013 computer skills component as well as an "Employment Bound curriculum.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Must have experience with an economically and academically deprived adult population and thoroughly understand the 2013 Microsoft Office Specialist objectives & Computer Literacy subject matter in Word, Power Point (basic to advanced skills in "Presentation Design Graphics") and Excel.
• Must also be able to teach basic to advanced skills in 2013 Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to teach students to create spreadsheets, formulas & charts, etc.
• Must be able to instruct students how to create business letters, research papers, columns, table of Contents, mail merge, setup of email accounts, and innovative way of purchasing their own personal computer.
• Must incorporate a "Job Readiness" component into the curriculum which involves keyboarding, development of cover letters, resume as well as interview skills techniques.
• Must be able to assess student performance through various studying progress reports, develop individual student goals and objectives, and administer exams and quizzes inside the classroom.
• Must develop a course curriculum and course syllabus for the Computer Literacy (BOT) Business Office Technology Program and the (MOAC) Microsoft Office Academic Course to be utilized as a guide for students.
• Responsible for daily preparation of lesson plans and assessment of students.
• Perform classroom administrative duties which entails: completing student evaluations and the mid-term/final grades, filing, student follow-up, maintaining records of the use of the computer hardware and software equipment used in the classrooms, troubleshooting, writing memos, and e-mails.
• Responsible for input of daily student attendance, and mid-term/final grades into the "Banner" Student Data System.
• Responsible for updates and maintenance of the Smart board, desktop PC's, and laptop computers in the classroom.
• Responsible for correcting class work, homework, weekly quizzes and exams.
• Researches information relevant to technology, software, course content, and job search for students.
• Maintains contact with alumni via email, SUNY North Bronx Outreach Center's website including "Facebook".
• Participates with recruitment and continually conducts research in order to update media contact list.
• Assists SUNY North Bronx Outreach Center with computer software and hardware issues.
• Must attend and participate in regularly faculty and staff meetings.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree required in Computer Science, Master's Degree preferred.
• A minimum of five years of computer classroom instruction and experience teaching young adults in an educational setting.
