Job Description:

SUMMARY Large MEP contractor based out of Connecticut. Current projects are all public commercial new construction and renovation, ranging from $500,000 - 30 million. JOB DESCRIPTION Review plans and specifications for competitive environment and determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Use Quick Pen Auto Bid Mechanical Estimating software to do quantified take-offs in a hard bid environment. Solicit subcontractor bids and vendor quotes. Coordinate and perform subcontractor/vendor estimate review duties and responsibilities to include checking scope of work for completeness, coordinate bidding, and reviewing prices. Ensure accuracy of estimate Recommend value engineering cost saving items where appropriate. Develop relationships with clients, general contractors, vendors and suppliers. Lead and/or participate in discussions and meetings with owner, general contractor, architect, engineers, subcontractors, vendors and management. EXPERIENCE/CAPABILITIES Demonstrate experience in estimating past projects sizes from $1 million to $20 million + Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including CAD drawings, Sketches, Specifications, Submittals, etc. Candidates must be detail-oriented with strong memory Individual shall be dedicated, self-motivated with good verbal and people skills. Must be able to prioritize and work independently. Demonstrate experience in estimating in a hard bid market. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook and strong working knowledge of Quickpen estimating software and database required. AA/EOE, M/F
