Job Description:

Seeking a FT and PT Medical Lab Technologist to work under the supervision of the laboratory manager to perform tests on blood and body fluids in order to help physicians diagnose and treat diseases.

Various responsibilities of a Medical Laboratory Technologist include:
Setup, adjust, maintain, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, centrifuge, Sysmex-Hematology, Vitros 5.1-Chemistry, Sysmex-Ca 600 -Coagulation, AuWi-Urinalysis, Diasorin Liason, and Tosoh 2000 and G7. Also performs some routine microbiology testing.
Testing materials used: Reagents (liquid and dry), quality controls, calibrators, wash solutions, diluents, stains, mineral and immersion oil, acids (hydrochloric, boric, salicylic), and validation materials.
Testing is performed on serum, plasma, whole blood, urine, stool, sputum, etc.
Analyze results for quality and accuracy.
Record test results in Orchard (LIS) and Nextgen EMR (Electronic Medical Records). Report any abnormal results to primary care physician or covering doctor.
Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment and countertops/work areas. Calibrates laboratory equipment at least every 6 months or as needed. Prepare chemical solutions if necessary although most are ready to use.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Electronic Health Records and basic computer knowledge.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university; or three to four years related Technologist experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technician Associates degree from two year college or three to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ASCP certification/NYS license required.
Shifts
PT - Every Saturday 8am - 6pm and two holidays per year
FT - Monday - Friday 11am - 7pm, Saturdays 8am - 2pm or 11am - 6pm and two holidays per y
