Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region, Inc. (seCTer)
Position: The Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region, Inc. (seCTer) is seeking an experienced Economic Development and/or Business Development professional to successfully lead and manage its comprehensive regional economic development programs. Under the direction of the seCTer board of directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for the continued growth of the organization by developing, executing and managing its policies, programs, and initiatives to increase employment, garner capital investment, promote and bolster Southeastern Connecticut’s diverse economy and enhance quality of life. seCTer operates three integrated programs to promote and drive the long-term economic viability of the regions diverse economy. These include business loans, governmental procurement assistance, and economic development with a budget of over one million dollars annually. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of programs, cooperation with other agencies, and fund development.
Desired background, experience, and personal characteristics: The ideal candidate will have experience in economic development, business development, and/or related fields. Either a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and five years of professional management experience or a Bachelor’s degree and ten years of relevant experience are required. This position requires creativity, a strong work ethic, the ability to motivate and lead seCTer’s board and staff, to work under pressure, to manage multiple tasks, to identify priorities, to collaborate with other regional, state, and federal agencies, to work with businesses to build consensus, and to assist other staff in day-to-day operations. The successful candidate must represent seCTer at different levels of personal and professional contact.
