Assistant Food/Retail Manager The Veterans Canteen Service is Federal agency that was established in 1946 and has dedicated itself to providing the best products and services to our nations Veterans and their families. Though a Federal entity, VCS is a self-sustaining business receiving no annual appropriations. Earnings generated through sales are returned to VA to support and enhance the quality of life for Veteran patients and the quality of the workplace for VA employees. The Assistant Canteen Manager is assigned to the VCS Canteen operations and performs retail, food, and vending duties under the administrative supervisor of the Canteen Chief. The manager ensures that overall program operations are designed to achieve financial requirements and/or goals established by the supervisor. The manager implements and ensures that all elements of stock management and inventory controls are managed in accordance with VCS operating procedures, standards, and policies. The manger will execute national menu cycles incorporating local cost analysis, which include established food gross objectives. Duties also include conducting interviews and recommends selections, promotions, and/or reassignments. In overview the manager will manage day to day activities of food caf activities, vending program, and the canteen retail store. Job Requirements: Minimum 2-5 Years of restaurant/retail/operations management experience High School Diploma, GED, Some college, college degree preferred Adapt to diverse work environment Effective leadership skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Detail oriented, well organized Effective Team building and Interpersonal skills Effective delegator Must be able to maintain and work with multiple departments within the VA medical center. Proficient Time Management Skills This position requires overnight shift from 11:00pm until 7:30am Apply Online Below!
